Improved player privacy a win for women

19 March 2018

The number of women signing up to play Aussie Rules at the Golden Grove Football Club is growing and growing all the time... and at last the club’s facilities reflect that!

The north-east Adelaide club – nicknamed ‘the Kookaburras’ – couldn’t afford to build completely separate men’s and women’s changerooms, but thanks to ORS (well, mostly*) it now has the next-best thing: self-contained shower cubicles which also incorporate private change areas.

The development is timely: this season the club is fielding three all-female teams – Senior Women’s, Under-18s and Under-16s.

The Golden Grove club says apart from furthering its goal of giving all players the best possible amenities and equipment, the new cubicles will help ensure female players feel safe and welcome – and valued.

*The Office for Recreation and Sport gave the footy club just over $24,000, through Round 1 of the Female Facilities Program. The total bill was just over $30,000.
