Goolwa’s dedicated band of lawn bowlers is luxuriating in two brand-spanking-new greens, thanks to the Office for Recreation and Sport – and plenty of helping hands.
Towards the end of last year the Goolwa Bowling Club pulled up two out of its three synthetic greens, and replaced them with new surfaces.
It cost $150,000; thankfully for the club ORS footed the bill under its 2016-17 Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program.
On hand to do a lot of the grunt work was a hardy band of volunteers (no doubt keen to get the greens down quickly so they could try them out!).
The club says the greens have drawn many admiring glances from visiting players.
And the verdict from the volunteers (and the rest of the Goolwa Bowling Club)?
Two out of three ain’t bad – it’s absolutely terrific!!
