Grant funding assists Port Adelaide Cycling Club to success

1 December 2016

Port Adelaide Cycling Club was presented with the Subaru Club Premiership at the 2016 Cycling Australia Awards held in Melbourne on Friday, 17 November 2016.

The Premiership is based on points accumulated from club members competing at national and international competition across all age groups for both able bodied and para athletes.  Port Adelaide has dual affiliation with both Cycling Australia and Mountain Bike Australia and hosts Track, Road and Cyclo Cross events.  This is the second consecutive year Port Adelaide has won the Premiership.

In accepting the award, Vice President Gemma Kernich acknowledged the club’s Dirt Skills program that has attracted 50 junior members in its second season to be held this summer.  Assistance from grants such as the Office of Recreation and Sport’s Active Club Program helps fund these programs and the popular Sports Vouchers program assists with primary school students wanting to give cycling a try in a supported, safe and friendly environment.
