At a cost of $93,000, Court 3 has reclaimed its position as the ‘Show Court’ in the Murray Bridge Basketball Association.
With the Office for Recreation and Sport chipping in $30,000, and the local STARCLUB* field officer providing invaluable backing too (take a bow, Marc Maddaford!), Court 3 is back to its gleaming, spring-loaded best.
As you can see from the pictures below, the old floor had to be completely pulled up. And it was well worth the effort; the MBBA says the new surface is suitable for regional and even national events.
In fact the new Court 3 got its first big workout over the October long weekend, with 84 teams from across the state (from U/12 up to U/23) competing in a major basketball carnival.
The verdict: #3 is a winner!
Fourteen new LED lights have also been installed, and plans are well underway for the next stage – painting the stadium’s seats, and insulating and lining the walls.
As the Association says: “Great things can happen when we all work together.”
(*STARCLUB is a joint initiative between ORS and 30 regional councils, which are divided up into eight regional groupings. The initiative aims to support and develop regional clubs and associations, promoting strong and vibrant sporting and active recreation cultures.)
