Are you a registered Sporting School? Funding is now available!
Sporting Schools is a $100 million Australian Government initiative set to be the nation’s largest sport-based participation programme, available to all Australian primary schools and over 850,000 students.
School story: Badminton a 100% positive experience
The kids at Acacia Ridge State School cannot get enough of their Sporting Schools Badminton programme.
Badminton has kicked off at several schools around the country and appeals to all age groups and demographics; it’s all about getting involved, learning some new skills, and having fun.
Sporting Schools wants our next generation playing more sport, and to do this we need to act now to get our children to build sport into their daily lives.
In a safe environment, Sporting Schools will help children foster a lifelong interest in sport, gain a healthier mind and body, all while being active, engaged and having fun.
In partnership with more than 30 national sporting organisations (NSOs), Sporting Schools will assist in providing the resources to help sporting clubs, coaches and teachers to deliver sport before, during, and after school hours.
Nationwide online registration is free for all Australian primary schools, skilled NSO-endorsed coaches and identified sporting partners, and funding is available to schools to link up with quality NSO-endorsed coaches to deliver the sporting programmes developed by the NSOs.
By bringing sports, schools, and community organisations together, Sporting Schools aims to increase children’s participation in sport during primary school years, and to connect with local sporting clubs in their community.
Based on the Playing for Life philosophy, Sporting Schools focuses on providing safe, fun and engaging activities that get all children involved, regardless of their level of ability.
The Australian Sports Commission’s Playing for Life materials are now available online via the Sporting Schools website under Resources, and include links to curriculum content descriptions, learning intentions, and the skill focus for each activity.
The resources align with the National HPE Curriculum and can be used to assist in the delivery of:
