SASI athletes have representation across five national crews led by Sally Kehoe and Olympia Aldersey consolidating their pairing in the women’s double, while the men’s double of James McRae and Sasha Belonogoff have once again claimed their partnership in the boat. Jason Lane said “selection of both the doubles allows continuity within the boats and having a total of seven athletes selected onto the team shows great depth within our program”.
Team crew selections from the SASI squad also include; Alex Hill (men’s four), Renee Chatterton (women’s eight), and Molly Goodman (women’s pair) who are all currently based interstate for training with their respective crews.
With selections now announced all athletes have the opportunity to get a long preparation phase in Australia prior to travelling to Italy and Switzerland for World Cups 2 and 3. Selectors will be monitoring performances at the World Cups as part of the final selection process for the team competing in the 2015 World Rowing Championships held in France later in the year.
