Mike Turtur Bikeway improvements

6 June 2013

Mike Turtur Bikeway

New facilities will improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The $200,000 project, which involves DPTI and Adelaide City Council, will create a tram crossing and bike box at the South Terrace intersection with Peacock Road.

It will improve safety and capacity for the 1000 cyclists using the Bikeway on average each weekday as well as for pedestrians around a busy tram stop.

The works will result in:
  •     a signalised cyclist crossing of the tram tracks on a safer alignment
  •     a bike box on Peacock Road, northbound at South Terrace to increase storage capacity and safety for cyclists entering the city
  •     an easier connection from the shared use path to the bike lane on Peacock Rd
  •     a signalised pedestrian and bicycle crossing of Peacock Rd at South Tce, which will serve the Park Lands Trail and improve access to the tram stop.
Visit this webpage to find out more and to see a video of the entire bikeway from a cyclist's point of view.
