A $2-million state government investment in new facilities is bringing softball and baseball together at West Beach.
The funding will transform the existing Adelaide Shores venue into the SA State Diamond Sports Centre, and create an historic opportunity for the two popular sports. Until now only softball has been played at the venue.
The new centre will be capable of hosting baseball and softball events at the national league level. The facilities will be completely transformed to include three playing diamonds, an indoor training facility and new and upgraded lighting, giving current and future state and national players year-round indoor and outdoor training opportunities.
The centre will be centrally located in the Adelaide Shores precinct, close to accommodation, transport, shopping and the beach, making Adelaide the ideal place for national and international competition for both sports.
It will be complemented by existing on-site accommodation to provide great opportunities for interstate tournaments and training camps.
