Yeeeehaaaaaaa!!!!!

Yeeeehaaaaaaa!!!!!

Long waits a thing of the past for junior long jumpers

Less hanging around waiting, more time jumping… isn’t that what every long jumper wants? And every spectator??

Certainly the jumpers from the Adelaide Harriers Athletics Club were fed up with having to wait ages before they could hurl themselves into the sandpit… Parents of the little athletics competitors had had enough too; with only two long jump run-ups for the club’s many competitors, delays at the regular Friday night meets were inevitable – and very frustrating.

Now, however, the club (based in Adelaide’s CBD) has double the number of run-ups: thanks to the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, two brand-new rubberised approaches have been added.

Now there’s more time for competitors to develop their skills – and have fun!

And yes, their parents – and other spectators – are pretty happy too.

Dare we say, they are all now… jumping for joy??!

(The new run-ups cost $10,000, which ORSR paid for with a grant under Round 43 of the Active Club Program.)
