New water ski jump raising Blanchetown club’s profile

The members of the Bedrock Waterski Club at Blanchetown are aspiring to dizzying heights these days – and regularly achieving them!

The club is the proud owner of a new $40,000 jump, perfect for practicing (and showing off) all three water-ski tournament disciplines - slalom, trick, and, naturally, jump.

The club and its members are rapt: as a spokesperson says, “The jump is the most spectacular of the disciplines and the sight of members and visitors soaring through the air has helped raise our profile” (literally!).

The Bedrock club is the only three-discipline site in SA, and is now hosting even more skiers from across the state, keen to try out the new jump.

It also now has the ability to host truly spectacular national events.

With more people using the Bedrock facilities and more members signing up, the club’s revenue is increasing too – not least from the growing number of spectators who are turning out to see some awesome displays of water-skiing skill.

The Blanchetown skiers say that’s positioned their club for a very strong – and sustainable – future.

(The Office for Recreation and Sport funded half the cost of the new jump, with a grant under Round 41 of the Active Club Program.)
