New scoreboard a winner for Hills footy club

It’s electronic! It’s excellent!

The Nairne Bremer United Football Club is so proud of its new high-tech electronic scoreboard, it regularly shows it off around the community.

Yes, it’s a mobile scoreboard – and it’s worth a touch over $41,000. (The Office for Recreation and Sport put in $19,000 under Round 41 of the Active Club Program.)

The scoreboard is a vast improvement on its clunky predecessor: not only are the scores and match statistics big and bold for all to see easily, it also means the Adelaide Hills club can screen advertisements from sponsors during breaks between games.

When match days are over, the scoreboard can easily be stored away under lock and key, reducing its exposure to the elements, and minimising the risk of vandalism.

The other big advantage is its use to the broader community: if you’re up Nairne way you might well see the scoreboard moonlighting here and there as an advertising hoarding for community events.

According to the club, it’s been a terrific acquisition, and everyone’s happy with it (not least the players when the scoreboard gets to flash a winning home-team score!).
