A major Adelaide Hills town can now boast a major – and we mean major – sports complex.
The Saint Francis de Sales College Community Sports Centre in Mt Barker cost $10.2 million – and it was worth every cent.
Amongst its key features are four international-standard basketball courts, giving hills residents access to stunning, top-class indoor facilities year-round.
Not surprisingly, students at Saint Francis de Sales are already enthusiastic users of the centre, as are members of the Eastern Hills Basketball Association and the Eastern Mavericks Basketball Club, both of which have signed on as anchor tenants.
Given the quality of the facility, finding other user groups is not expected to be a problem!
The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing helped make the project possible with a $960,000 grant through the 2016-17 round of the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program.
